28 Dec 14: Clarification of women's medal awards (because several people have asked about it recently): following the precedent set in recent years, the various women's sub-categories (senior, junior and veteran) are treated completely separately for the purpose of awarding medals. 26 Oct 14: Results are posted for today's League Round 7 at Mistley.

24 Oct 14: Important information regarding parking at Mistley: We appreciate that parking is a problem at this venue but we cannot afford to upset the local council/residents with inconsiderate and dangerous parking as we may lose this venue for future events. All competitors or spectators please park with consideration and care. Do not block any resident driveways within the surrounding roads or block the pavements.

The Access Road into Furze Hill must be kept clear for emergency vehicles. Please do not park in this Access Road i.e. Do not try and Park with your wheels on the pavement thinking that vehicles can get past you. Any competitors found parking in this Access road will be disqualified from the results or even rejected from starting even if they have pre-entered the event.

There is a small grassed car park which has a capacity for 12 cars. The car park can be found by carrying on down Shrubland Road for approximately 50metres where you will find the car park (grassed area) to the left.

16 Sep 14: Riders are reminded that cameras are not allowed to be fixed to bikes or on riders during racing. It contravenes British Cycling Regulation 3.2.7 which applies to all types of racing and states: "Pumps, spare tyres and race computers must be securely fastened. All other equipment not essential for racing purposes must be removed."

Any riders spotted with cameras at the call up will not be allowed to start or will be disqualified if seen during racing.

16 Sep 14: For all U16 and U14 'Cross riders who are considering racing in Belgium, we'll be sharing more information and collecting expressions of interest at Hog Hill this Saturday 20th September.

If you're a rider who is planning to ride the National Trophy series this year, then Belgium could be good experience for you.

We'll probably be suggesting dates in the Christmas holidays for a trip over to Belgium, though U16s may also want to consider November dates. Remember, we provide information and advice only - you'll need to cover your own expenses for transport and accommodation, etc. - we estimate these as £400+ per adult & racer, though it could be less if you can share with another pair. Under 16's can hope to race twice in a weekend, though U14s are only permitted to race once per week by Belgian regulations.

Dates for possible trips to Belgium will be firmed up in the next few weeks, prior to the main information and planning session on October 18th, probably held at Writtle College, near Chelmsford. We are hoping interested parents and racers will then group together to travel over on specific dates.

There will be a short presentation in the Hog Hill cafe at 12.30 on Saturday. For those of you that want to leave earlier or can't make it, one or more of the Development Fund Committee (Mark Fraser, James Asker, Paul Miller, Geraint Davies, Peter Hall) will be sitting in the cafe with some information, for drop-by conversations, between 12 and 1 pm.

14 Sep 14: Results are posted for today's league round 2 at Hillyfields. Apologies, but due to a technical issue with the results software, the times (and hence lap-o-meter) for the senior/junior race are incorrect. However, the positions and lap counts are correct as far as we know. As usual, you should send any results queries to results@easterncross.org.uk.

13 Sep 14: Race Entry Clarification: To ensure priority for league members' entry into races, please note that from the Hoggenberg event on the 20th September, the £3 league membership discount will only apply to on-line advance entries.

For the first two events we are aware that it had been cheaper to enter on the day thus avoiding the BC admin fee. This discouraged people from entering on line and penalised those who did. On-line entry is essential to allow the sport to grow and helps the organisation tremendously. We thank you for your continued support.

10 Sep 14: Updated the list of registered riders. These are the riders who are eligible for entry fee discount and league points at league round 2 at Hillyfields.

10 Sep 14: On-line entries for the Sen/Jun/Wom/Vets event at the non-league Ashwell 'Cross are now open. There is on-line entry only for this event. Youths may enter in advance as well.

10 Sep 14: A few veterans have been asking about riding "out of category"; here's how it works. The senior/junior race is effectively an open race. That means that anyone who is 16 or over on 31st December 2014 can ride in it. There are no separate prizes for over-40s, and you will not get British Cycling veteran ranking points (though you can earn BC senior ranking points if you finish high enough).

The other races are restricted category. That means the only people allowed to ride the Vet 40-49 race are men who will be between 40 and 49 on 31st December 2014. The only people allowed to ride the Women/Vet 50+ race are (a) women, and (b) men who will be 50 or over on 31st December 2014.

If you're a veteran and you want to ride two races in a day, you can do so but one must be your "official" race (i.e. Vet 40-49 or Women/Vet 50+ as appropriate) and the other must be the senior/junior race.

League membership works similarly but you can only be in one league during the year. If you are a veteran and you would prefer to compete in the senior league, you need to join as a veteran (this is currently your only choice on the British Cycling site) and then email the results compiler to request a change of league category.

10 Sep 14: A couple of things you can do to help the judging team: Please pin your numbers at bum height, not in the middle of your back. When you are in race position, judges can't see your back. If you see someone with their number pinned incorrectly, please help them to adjust it to the correct position. Numbers need 4 pins - a few were only secured with 3 pins on Saturday - this resulted in them ripping and flapping about so judges were unable to see the number at all! This applies to kids too.

If having started, you are unable to complete your race, you (or your parent/friend) should inform the judges of your race number. If the judges don't know you have dropped out of the race, they will be searching for you, which can delay subsequent races. This includes U10 and U12 races. Sometimes the rider has had enough and just goes off with their parents, leaving the judges to worry about a missing child. If your child does not go through the chequered flag, please tell the judges.

7 Sep 14: Corrected categories in yesterday's result.

7 Sep 14: The lap-o-meter is now showing riders in the correct order.

6 Sep 14: Apologies, the lap-o-meter is currently listing riders in number order rather than finishing position. I'll get that fixed as soon as I can, probably tomorrow.

6 Sep 14: Results are posted for today's league round 1 at Basildon. League tables will follow in due course (but you can get a fair idea of what they will look like by examining today's race result).

30 Aug 14: You are reminded that you can enter league round 1 at Basildon on line in advance via the British Cycling website. If you know you'll be coming, you'll be doing us a big favour by entering in advance. The sign-on and results crews have more work this year with the extra race in the schedule, and having the majority of riders pre-entered will help with that. And, of course, it means you're guaranteed a ride.

30 Aug 14: Many thanks to everyone who has already volunteered to help with the results service this year. That said, everyone who has volunteered has done it before. We need more people, and that means we need some new faces to join the team. Please email Susannah if you are able to help at a couple of races. Remember: Volunteers never miss their race; You can bagsy an indoors job; Helping at just 2 or 3 events is a huge help. (More is fab); You usually get a free cuppa - and sometimes a piece of cake too; You can claim mileage from the league.

It's pretty straightforward for anyone who can play a game on their phone. It would be great if each club in the league has a representative on the results squad.

30 Aug 14: Posted the list of registered riders. These are the riders who are eligible for entry fee discount and league points at league round 1 at Basildon. If you're a veteran but you'd prefer to ride in the Open (senior) race, you'll need to let me know asap.

13 Aug 14: Note that you need to be logged in to your British Cycling account before you can join the league. Please only email Keely if you're having problems and you've checked that you're logged in. Thanks.

13 Aug 14: The Eastern Youth Cyclocross Development Fund ("Helping the region's young riders to gain Belgian racing experience") is now up and running. Take a look at their opening announcement to find out what it's about and how to get involved.

7 Aug 14: We're now taking League entries via the British Cycling web site. Please take care to join the correct age category. It's your age on 31st December 2014 that counts, not your age when you join the league.

15 Jun 14: The fixture list for the coming season is now announced. Subscribe to the on-line calendar on Apple devices, Android devices, Google Calendar, Outlook 2010 (and possibly other systems) to have your personal calendar automatically updated. You'll see from the individual race pages that we've added another race into the race day schedule in an effort to lessen the likelihood of races filling up. We also plan to offer on-line entry in advance, but we haven't yet worked out all the details. Watch this space for further announcements.

26 Feb 14: The 2014 AGM minutes are now posted.

20 Feb 14: If you still have your league number, please return it to: Keely Bunton, 4 Coleridge Road, Maldon, Essex, CM9 6DH. Please include a note stating your name and category. Thanks.

20 Feb 14: From fixture co-ordinator Hannah Ormesher: Eastern League members! This season's doors have barely closed but preparations are under way for the 2014/15 calendar and I will be getting in touch with our regular fixture holders shortly to put a draft calendar in place. It would be exciting to be able to hold some new events this year and the league is on the look-out for promoters and organisers for the upcoming season. If anyone has any ideas for a new venue and a club willing to host please do get in touch - even if you're not sure where to start we can offer advice on how to make it happen! Please submit your interest to Hannah by the end of this month, we look forward to hearing from you! Let's continue building on Eastern's strong reputation to make the 2014/15 season even better!

20 Feb 14: We have accumulated a large bag of lost property over the season. Items include 8 water bottles (some with fluid in), a pair of knee warmers, 2 pairs of dark glasses and 2 clear ones (3 are brands), pair of black arm warmers, Continental cap, a branded skull cap, a Berghaus hat, a pair of Pro race mitts, top of a flask, black plain underjersey, a left hand Altura glove, a set of headphones, small mult-tool, camera lens case, small pump, red Ip-Cross hoodie, a track pump and a wheel. If you think any of this is yours, please contact Terry Smith of Colchester Rovers.

20 Feb 14: I'm told that people ride bikes even when it's not winter. Cyclo-cross stalwart Adrian Grimwood is once again organising the Ixworth Criteriums in May. It's a great day out, either as a rider or spectator.

11 Feb 14: Team placings are posted for the Team Championships.

11 Feb 14: Fixed rendering problem on Windows Phone devices.

9 Jan 14: If you're planning to ride the Central league event at Welwyn on 19th January 2014, please be aware that only those riders entering in advance will be gridded. Anyone turning up on the day takes pot luck.

9 Jan 14: Congratulations to League member Sean Dunlea (Ciclos Uno) on winning the Junior National Trophy Series. After finishing eighth in an eventful and muddy final ride at Shrewsbury, Sean clinched the Junior Series with 161 points, 13 points ahead of nearest challenger Dylan Kerfoot-Robson. Hugo Robinson (Neon Velo) was ninth in the Under 23 overall standings, while Steve Davies (Hargroves) was 2nd and Dave McMullen (Cotswold Veldrijden) 4th in the Over 50 category, and Sophia Chastell (Welwyn) was 9th youth girl.

2 Jan 14: Medal winners are highlighted in the league tables where we know them. Some categories are sewn up already but in the majority it's all to play for at the last round.
