Please have a look at my blog post explaining what I'm doing."

6 Oct 13: Apologies to league riders who have been ungridded this season. A glitch related to the move to on-line league registration meant that some riders did not get gridded properly in their first race as a league rider this season. We'll try to sort this out by next week. (For anyone interested in the boring detail, it's due to the fact that we now use riders' names as registered with British Cycling. For many riders, this does not match the name they used previously, e.g. Steve vs. Steven. So, until they had ridden one race this year under their full name, we didn't pick up their correct ranking.)

19 Sep 13: Eastern league cyclo-cross races are limited to 80 riders on the course. In order to reduce the chance of disappointment, there will be a new sign-on procedure at the CC Ashwell event on Saturday, 21st September, 2013. League members will be given priority. So, only people who are in the league (i.e. the people on the registered members page) will be allowed to sign on more than one hour before the race. Non-league riders can add their names to a reserve list. They must do this in person. One hour before the race, if the race is not full, riders will be invited to sign on in reserve list order. The rider needs to be in the HQ to claim their place - if they are not there, it will be offered to the next rider on the list.

League riders who arrive less than an hour before the race must join the reserve list, if there is one. They do not get priority at this point.

Note that this still does not guarantee that league riders will be able to race, because there are more than 80 registered riders eligible for each of the adult races. If a league rider is not able to enter the women/veterans race, they may join the reserve list for the senior race.

This is an experimental procedure. The committee will review the outcome to decide whether to retain it or modify it for subsequent events.

18 Sep 13: Updated the list of registered riders. These are the riders who are eligible for entry fee discount and league points at league round 3 at Baldock.

18 Sep 13: Note to new league members: please take a look at the list of registered riders before your first race. You'll find your league number there, which will save time at sign-on. If you're not on the list, it means that you didn't get your entry in prior to the 7 day cut-off. Please do not complain to the sign-on crew about this.

7 Sep 13: We're working on the results from today's league round 1 at Basildon but there are a number of technical issues delaying us. We'll get them published as soon as we can, but it may not be before tomorrow afternoon.

31 Aug 13: Your league needs you! The league urgently needs more PDA operators. If you can send a text then you can operate the PDA.

A couple of the longstanding operators are no longer able to help this year, leaving a massive gap in the team. If you or a member of your family (14 or over) is willing to help out at some of the races for an hour or so, it will keep the PDA service running. If you want to stay in the warm HQ, that's fine - we need someone to load up the PDAs with riders' names and rankings. If you want to see the racing action you can help score 1 or more of the races. There is always a paper backup - the race result does NOT depend entirely on you. However, the speed with which the results are produced most definitely does!

We would really like volunteers from all over the region to help. Please don't wait for someone else to volunteer: if you can help, email Susannah.

31 Aug 13: Remember that even with on-line entries, you still need to join the league at least 7 days before your first race. Basically, that means today is the last day to join if you want your ride at the Essex Roads Cross at Basildon to count.

15 Aug 13: Apologies for the delay, but we're now taking League entries via the British Cycling web site. As previously announced, you need to be a member of British Cycling to join the League.

14 Jul 13: The parking and sign-on arrangements for the Essex Roads Cross at Basildon are different to last year. Full information is on the race detail page.

12 Jul 13: 31st August 2013 - Cyclo Cross commissaires course. British Cycling will be running a commissaires training course on Saturday 31st August, just ahead of the start of the new season. Anyone interested in becoming a commissaire is encouraged to attend, as are any existing commissaires who would like to refresh their knowledge. The course is free and is open to anyone, aged 18 or over, providing they hold BC membership. On the day training will last around 4 hours and there is a short on-line module to complete prior to the course. The venue will be confirmed as soon as possible. To register your interest or to request further information please contact Sara Flatt, Regional Events Officer, on 07940 872228 or saraflatt@britishcycling.org.uk.

9 Jun 13: The fixture list for the coming season is now announced. Subscribe to the on-line calendar on Apple devices, Android devices, Google Calendar, Outlook 2010 (and possibly other systems) to have your personal calendar automatically updated.

9 Jun 13: I've had a lot of requests to join the Facebook group in the past few days from people whom I don't recognise. That's fine, but the group is supposed to be restricted to members and friends of the League. The thing is, I'm not psychic. If I don't know who you are, I can't accept you into the group. Basically, what I do is to search for your Facebook name within the easterncross.org.uk site. If I get a match on your name, I accept you; if I don't, I don't. So, if you've tried to join the group but you haven't been accepted, please email me to explain who you are.

9 Jun 13: League entries for 2013-14 aren't open yet but when they are, it's likely that we'll be moving to an on-line registration system. As a consequence, we will require that all League members must be members of British Cycling. For most League riders, who are already members of British Cycling, this will make no difference. Bronze membership will be sufficient.

If entering on-line please email Ken to let him know which team you are in. Also if he has your team details don't forget to let him have your entry. We want this to be a relaxed and fun event so if you cannot get a Club Team together for a particular category then why not join with others to make up a team - just try to wear the same colour jerseys if possible.

19 Jan 13: If you are currently holding an Eastern 'Cross trophy, please return it today. Thank you.

19 Jan 13 08:30: I'm sitting here at King Edward VI school, and today's race is definitely ON. If you're using a satnav, you might want to make a point of taking Springfield Road, rather than following your satnav's directions.

8 Jan 13: Entries are now open for the end-of-season Team Championships at Mistley on 3rd February 2013. See the race details page for instructions and links on how to enter. Note that you need to let the organiser know which team you are riding for.
